A growing, quality-focused coffee brand is seeking a skilled and dependable Baker to join its central production kitchen in Claremont.

Working alongside the existing kitchen team, the successful candidate will share responsibility for the daily production of breads, pastries, cakes and other baked goods supplied to four coffee outlets. This is a hands-on production role suited to someone who takes pride in disciplined baking, consistency and maintaining high standards.

Location: Claremont, Cape Town

Working Hours: Five-day working week, rostered across a seven-day operation

Shift: 04:00 start

Description:

• Produce breads, pastries, cakes and other baked goods to a consistently high standard.
• Follow established preparation, fermentation, proofing and baking schedules.
• Ensure all products are correctly prepared, finished and presented.
• Support the daily production requirements of all four coffee outlets.
• Monitor ingredient quality, stock levels and product wastage.
• Report stock shortages, quality concerns and wastage issues to the kitchen team.
• Maintain strict food-safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.
• Keep the production kitchen clean, organised and ready for early-morning service.
• Work collaboratively with the existing kitchen team to meet daily production targets.
• Assist with maintaining product consistency, freshness and portion standards.

Requirements:

• Proven professional baking experience, ideally gained within a bakery or high-volume kitchen.
• Comfortable producing a varied range of breads, pastries and cakes at volume.
• A sound understanding of dough preparation, fermentation, proofing and baking techniques.
• Experience working with sourdough or other naturally leavened products would be advantageous.
• Reliable, disciplined and able to work consistently according to exacting standards.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished products.
• Able to follow recipes, production schedules and kitchen procedures accurately.
• A collaborative team player who is comfortable sharing baking responsibilities within an established kitchen.
• Must have reliable transport and be able to travel to Claremont for a 04:00 shift.
