We are currently recruiting for a private lodge situated within the Welgevonden Game Reserve is seeking an experienced Lodge Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the property. The position is suited to a hands-on individual with solid lodge management experience and a strong understanding of guest service, staff management and lodge operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of the lodge

Ensure lodge standards, rules and procedures are consistently followed

Liaise with the sales representative regarding bookings and guest requirements

Follow up on bookings and assist with lodge planning

Manage, lead and train the lodge team

Manage staff leave and daily staffing requirements

Handle general lodge administration and operational tasks

Follow up on maintenance requirements

Oversee housekeeping standards and relevant checklists

Manage purchasing of food, cleaning products and other operational supplies

Monitor stock levels and purchasing requirements

Assist with effective cost control across the lodge

Ensure a high standard of guest service and overall lodge presentation

REQUIREMENTS

Previous lodge management experience is essential

Strong leadership and people-management skills

Excellent organisational and administrative abilities

Good understanding of purchasing and cost control

A hands-on approach to lodge operations

Strong guest relations and communication skills

Ability to work independently and comfortably in a remote bush environment

Valid driver’s licence

A Field Guide / Lodge Manager combination would be advantageous and may be considered

This is a hands-on management opportunity suited to an experienced lodge professional who enjoys being involved across all areas of lodge operations and is looking to be based in a genuine bush environment.
