Lodge Manager - World-Renowned Luxury Safari Lodge - Sabi Sand, Mpumalanga

Kendrick Recruitment is searching for an exceptional, polished and deeply experienced Lodge Manager for one of Africa's most celebrated and globally awarded luxury safari companies, operating iconic lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Mpumalanga.

This is a brand that defines the global benchmark for luxury safari hospitality. The Lodge Manager is the heartbeat of the guest experience - responsible for everything from housekeeping and maintenance standards to guest relations, staff development, financial controls and the seamless delivery of a world-class, "at home" luxury stay. The standard here is uncompromising, and so should the candidate be.

Please note: This is a live-in position within a remote reserve. A minimum of 6 years' management experience within a recognised 5-star hotel or world-class lodge environment is an absolute requirement. Candidates without this background will not be considered.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 6 years' work experience including management in a recognised 5-star hotel or world-class luxury lodge - essential and non-negotiable

Exceptional Food and Beverage knowledge including preparation, terminology and service standards

Strong awareness of dietary requirements and allergies

Proven financial management ability including stock control, ordering and budget oversight

Excellent English communication skills - a second language is a strong advantage

Clear understanding of South African labour law and disciplinary procedures

Developmental approach to staff management with a genuine commitment to skills development

Strong understanding of housekeeping and maintenance procedures and standards

Excellent computer literacy and reporting skills

Awareness of international trends in hospitality, food and lodge industries

Valid South African driver's licence - essential

Well-presented, assertive, patient and highly organised

Stable work history with outstanding, contactable references

Key Responsibilities:🌟 Guest Experience

Ensure ultimate guest relations are maintained throughout the lodge at all times

Uphold the personal, "at home" attention levels that define this brand's guest experience

Oversee all concierge and reception duties with meticulous attention to detail

Liaise effectively with all departments to ensure guest needs are anticipated and met👥 People Management & Development

Manage, develop and inspire the full lodge team across all departments

Support active participation in all human resources functions including recruitment, induction, onboarding and performance management

Maintain and elevate team morale and drive ongoing skills development in line with the brand's standards of excellence

Conduct disciplinary procedures fairly and in line with labour law🏨 Operations & Standards

Maintain the highest possible standards of housekeeping, gardening and maintenance in line with design and visual audit requirements

Ensure the quality, care and longevity of all lodge equipment and products

Communicate effectively with all departmental teams to ensure seamless daily operations

Drive and implement strategic management plans in line with the broader goals of the company💰 Financial Management

Manage all financial administration including orders and stock control effectively and within budget

Monitor expenditure and implement cost-efficiency measures without compromising on standards

Prepare accurate reports as required by management🌿 Sustainability & Conservation

Operate within the lodge's environmental parameters and actively identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact

Actively participate in and communicate the lodge's conservation message and purpose
