Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant General Manager for a well-established health and fitness club based in Durban. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic hospitality, leisure or fitness professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional member experiences while supporting the overall management of the club.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the club

Ensure exceptional levels of customer service and member satisfaction

Support and motivate departmental managers and team members

Oversee daily operational standards across all departments

Assist with staff training, performance management and team development

Monitor health and safety compliance throughout the facility

Support the achievement of financial targets and operational budgets

Handle member queries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently

Ensure the club maintains the highest standards of presentation and cleanliness

Assist with implementing operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

Previous management experience within hospitality, leisure, fitness or a related industry

Strong leadership and people management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Financial and commercial awareness

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

High level of professionalism and customer service focus

Computer literacy and experience with operational reporting systems will be advantageous
