Our client is seeking a passionate and capable Chef de Partie (CDP) to join the culinary team at a luxury coastal hotel in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as part of a new opening, making it particularly suited to a chef who enjoys helping establish standards, working within a developing kitchen team and contributing to a high-quality guest dining experience from the outset.

Description:

The Chef de Partie will take responsibility for an allocated kitchen section while supporting the senior culinary team with daily preparation and service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare and cook dishes according to required recipes and standards
• Take responsibility for mise en place within the allocated section
• Maintain excellent food quality, consistency and presentation
• Ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods
• Follow portion and plating standards
• Maintain correct food storage, labelling and rotation
• Follow FIFO procedures and minimise unnecessary food waste
• Assist with stock control and communicate shortages
• Cater for dietary requirements and special guest requests
• Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene and food-safety standards
• Keep workstations, equipment and storage areas clean and organised
• Support junior kitchen team members where required
• Work closely with senior chefs and the wider culinary team

Contribute positively to the standards and culture of a new hotel operation

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Demi Chef de Partie or similar professional kitchen position
• Relevant culinary qualification advantageous
• Hotel, restaurant or quality hospitality kitchen experience
• Sound cooking and food-preparation skills
• Good understanding of mise en place and section management
• Strong attention to food presentation and consistency
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
• Understanding of stock rotation and waste control
• Able to work efficiently under pressure
• Reliable, hardworking and team focused
• Professional attitude and willingness to learn
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends and public holidays

Salary & Position

• Salary: R8,000 per month
• Location: Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal
