A gorgeous Big 5 reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape is looking for an enthusiastic FIELD GUIDE to join their team.

This role calls for a confident guide who can lead game drives and guided walking safaris across a diverse landscape, delivering polished, knowledgeable experiences for discerning guests.

Core Criteria:

FGASA Level 2 qualification or higher

Valid PDP Apprentice trails guide status advantageous

Strong knowledge of African wildlife, ecology, and bush safety

Excellent guest engagement and communication skills

Understanding of Afrikaans preferred (spoken ability a bonus)

Single status preferred, given shared, remote staff accommodation

Non-smoker; a responsible approach to alcohol is fine, but heavy drinkers need not apply

Willingness to work an extended on/off duty cycle typical of remote reserve life

Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a bush environment

Candidate Responsibilities:

Conduct game drives and guided walking safaris for guests

Deliver engaging, knowledgeable interpretation of the reserve's flora, fauna, and ecology

Ensure guest safety at all times while on activity

Maintain and check guiding vehicles and equipment

Build rapport with guests to enhance their overall safari experience

Assist with general guiding-team duties and reserve conservation initiatives as required

Uphold the lodge's standards of hospitality and professionalism at all times
