We are recruiting an experienced Head of Housekeeping for an exceptional, privately operated VIP luxury wellness retreat in the Karoo.

This exclusive property offers just ten expansive luxury tented suites, each measuring approximately 320m² and designed to provide the highest levels of privacy, comfort and personalised service.

Each suite features its own private plunge pool, floating pool, Jacuzzi, spa facilities, minibar, room service and dedicated private concierge. Guests enjoy individually tailored wellness experiences, including personalised dining and dietary menus.

Set within a remarkable natural wilderness, the retreat is home to the Big Five, more than 100 bird species and exceptional indigenous fauna and flora, including species unique to the region.

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-driven housekeeping professional who understands the exacting standards expected at this level of luxury hospitality.

The Position

The Head of Housekeeping will oversee a team of approximately 20 staff members, taking full responsibility for housekeeping standards, staff training, daily operations and the immaculate presentation of the property.

The property is situated in a remote area of the Karoo, with the nearest town approximately 45 minutes away. Candidates must be comfortable living and working in a secluded environment.

Where a company vehicle is travelling into town, staff are welcome to make use of the available transport arrangements.

Description:

• Managing, supervising and training a housekeeping team of 20 employees.
• Ensuring consistently exceptional housekeeping standards across all ten luxury tented suites, including private decks and outdoor guest areas.
• Overseeing the cleanliness and presentation of the yoga facilities, gym, boma, spa and other guest facilities.
• Managing the housekeeping requirements of offices, staff areas and back-of-house facilities.
• Overseeing laundry operations, linen care, inventory and housekeeping supplies.
• Establishing and maintaining detailed cleaning schedules, inspection procedures and quality standards.
• Providing ongoing hands-on training, coaching and supervision to ensure that every member of the team understands the standards expected at a VIP luxury property.
• Working closely with other departments to ensure a discreet, efficient and personalised guest experience.

Requirements:

• A minimum of five years’ housekeeping experience within a premium five-star luxury lodge or similarly exclusive property.
• The candidate’s most recent position must have been Head of Housekeeping.
• Proven experience managing, developing and training a sizeable housekeeping team.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with an uncompromising approach to cleanliness, presentation and guest comfort.
• A thorough understanding of luxury housekeeping procedures, laundry operations, linen management and stock control.
• A practical, hands-on management style, with the ability to lead by example.
• Professional, discreet and comfortable working within an exclusive VIP hospitality environment.
• Own transport is essential.
